Hiriya School is a government school opened as a secondary girls’ school in Male’ on 14th June 2009. It was the first single session school which was officially opened on 15th September 2009 by His Excellency Mohamed Nasheed, Former President. Although the school was opened as a secondary girls’ school, it currently is co-educational catering students from grade 1 to 10 in two sessions.
As per the school motto; Excel and Exemplify, we at Hiriya School, believe that by inculcating positive values and student leadership we will be able to prepare students for tomorrow’s world. It is our ultimate goal to develop a generation of youth who will Excel and Exemplify and in due course become responsible citizens.
The medium of instruction in the school is English. Hiriya School follows the local curriculum and teaches for the Cambridge IGCSE Examinations in key stage 4.The curriculum is divided in to 4 key stages:

To provide wide range of experiences and activities that develop essential knowledge, skills and values.
To develop arange of knowledge, skills, values and attidues tat enables them to become enterprising, productive, creative and law abiding members of the society who have a firm grounding in moral and islamic values.
